Squarespace SEO tool that installs with one line of code

Updated ยท By the SEOAmazing team

Yes, SEOAmazing works on Squarespace. You paste one script tag into the Header field of Code Injection, and it loads on every page. SEOAmazing crawls your site, writes fixes for titles, meta descriptions, headings, image alt text and schema, and applies only the changes you approve. Your Squarespace content is never edited.

Why on-page SEO is slow to do on Squarespace

Squarespace makes a site look good fast. On-page SEO is a different story once you have more than a handful of pages. The SEO title and description live in each page's own settings, and every blog post and product has its own fields too. Fixing 80 pages means opening 80 panels, one at a time.

The template also decides a lot for you. Headings come from how each section is styled, so a page can end up with no H1, or with the site name as its only clear heading. Image alt text is set per image block, which is easy to skip when you upload a gallery. And there is no built-in view that shows every page's title and description side by side, so gaps stay hidden.

None of this is a flaw in Squarespace. It is built for design first. SEOAmazing adds the missing layer: one list of every on-page issue across the site, with a proposed fix for each one.

How to add SEOAmazing to Squarespace

Code Injection is available on the Core, Plus and Advanced plans, plus some legacy billing plans. If your plan does not include it, you will need to upgrade before you can install the snippet. Code added to the Header field is placed in the head of every page on your site, which is exactly where the snippet belongs.

Squarespace sometimes renames menus. If a label below looks different in your dashboard, search the Squarespace help center for "code injection" and use its link to open the panel directly.

  1. Sign up for SEOAmazing, add your Squarespace domain, and copy the snippet shown in your dashboard.
  2. In Squarespace, open your site and go to the Pages panel.
  3. Scroll down to Website Tools and click Code Injection.
  4. Paste the snippet into the Header field. Keep the script tags, since Squarespace needs them for JavaScript.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Back in SEOAmazing, start the crawl. When the review queue fills, approve the fixes you want.

Squarespace details worth knowing

A few platform rules affect how custom code behaves. They come from Squarespace's own documentation.

  • Checkout pages do not support custom code, so the snippet will not run there. That rarely matters for SEO, since checkout pages are not meant to rank.
  • If the editor preview stops loading after you add code, Squarespace offers a Disable Scripts in Preview option. It only affects the editor, not what visitors see.
  • Squarespace support does not troubleshoot custom code. If something looks off, contact us at ceo@theappmakerpro.com and we will help.
  • Page Header Code Injection, found in a single page's settings, is for page-specific code. Use the site-wide Header field instead so every page gets the snippet.

What SEOAmazing changes on your Squarespace site, and what it doesn't

After the crawl, SEOAmazing's AI writes a prioritized list of fixes. Each one shows the current value, the proposed value (which you can edit), a severity, and a one-line reason. Nothing goes live until you click Approve, and you can reject anything.

Approved fixes are applied in the browser by the snippet. About five minutes after you approve, the change is live on the page.

  • It can change: title tags, meta descriptions, a single clear H1, JSON-LD schema, image alt text, and internal-link anchor text.
  • It does not change: your Squarespace pages, blog posts, products or SEO panel settings. Your content stays exactly as you left it.
  • Changes are live only while the snippet is installed. Remove it and your pages go back to their original state. Writing fixes back into the CMS is on our roadmap, not live today.
  • The snippet is under 8 KB gzipped and loads with defer, so it never blocks your page from painting. If our CDN is ever unreachable, your site renders as normal.

How Google and AI crawlers see the changes

Google renders JavaScript, so Googlebot can see the titles, descriptions and schema the snippet applies.

Many AI crawlers, such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, do not run JavaScript. They read the HTML Squarespace sends, so they will not see snippet changes on their own. SEOAmazing has a prerender service that serves those bots fully rendered HTML with your approved changes already in place. On a customer site this needs bot traffic routed to the prerender with a small edge rule, plus the domain enabled on our side. We set it up with you. Whether it fits your Squarespace setup depends on how your domain's traffic is routed, so ask us before you plan around it.

Track whether the fixes help

Fixes are only worth it if you can see their effect. Add the keywords you care about and SEOAmazing checks your Google position right away, then daily on paid plans and weekly on Free. You can also connect Google Search Console, read-only, to see clicks, impressions and the queries where you rank 4 to 20, which are often the easiest wins.

AI Visibility checks whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity mention or cite your site for the questions you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Squarespace extension or plugin for SEOAmazing?

No. There is no extension to install. You paste one script tag into the Header field of Code Injection, and that is the whole install.

Which Squarespace plans support Code Injection?

Squarespace lists Code Injection on the Core, Plus and Advanced plans, plus some legacy billing plans. If you do not see the option, check your plan first.

Will SEOAmazing overwrite the SEO titles I set in Squarespace?

Only on the live page, and only for fixes you approve. The values in your Squarespace SEO panels are not edited. Remove the snippet and the original titles show again.

Does it work on my blog posts and product pages?

Yes. The snippet runs on every page that loads the site-wide header code, and the crawl finds pages from your sitemap. Checkout pages are the exception, since Squarespace does not allow custom code there.

Will the snippet slow down my Squarespace site?

It is under 8 KB gzipped and loads with defer, so it does not block your page from painting. If our CDN is down, your site loads as normal.
